Woodridge Behavioral Health Center is a mental health treatment center for young people with mental health problems. This is a live-in facility where patients stay for months at a time. For this reason, the facility is designed with a residential feel to make the facility feel less institutional. The building’s use also presented challenges such as managing strict access control, using resilient finishes and anti-ligature products. In addition to housing, the facility provides rooms for counseling rooms, activity areas, cafeteria, classrooms, and a gymnasium. The building is an addition to a historic house in West Memphis. The building highlights and accents this historic home.
